zürcher theater spektakel 2022

brand identity and campaign for the zürcher theater spektakel: the festival ranks among the most important european festivals for the contemporary performing arts. with its artistically outstanding programming, a unique atmosphere, and well over 100’000 engaged and open-minded spectators, it is an important annual event in zurich with international appeal.

to create the visuals of the campaign, we’ve worked with paris-based illustrator maïté marque. she has translated images of productions from the festival programme into her visual language, which is characterised by bold colours in sometimes unconventional combinations. this is no coincidence: when marque visited relatives in the dominican republic as a child, she was surrounded by colourful interiors, fruits in every imaginable colour and opulent paintings. marque picks up the colour palettes from back then in her current work, which is evident in her signature style — and of course in this year’s festival appearance.
